A little about me

Hi, I'm Roman.

A development specialist in Finland, with a few too many things I want to understand.

I grew up in Murmansk, Russia, and moved to Finland in 2018, straight after high school, to study. I was 18. Finland feels like home now, although there are things I find difficult here too.

I started working as a development specialist in 2020. My work is in logistics and transport, and it spans software development, improving processes, and coordinating technical work. I enjoy figuring out difficult problems, making something useful, and seeing an idea through.

Outside work, I often spend time on a project, learn something, go to the gym, or have a quiet day. My interests change, and this site gives me somewhere to follow them.

Travel is a big part of that. I've visited around 30 countries. I enjoy the food, people, nature, mountains, and the feeling of being somewhere unfamiliar. Sandboarding in Chile is one memory that stands out. This year, I also went to the Greek islands with my girlfriend.

Here I share those experiences alongside the things I build and whatever else I feel like writing about. You'll also find me on Instagram as @romanslab.
